Next Adult Clinic--Thursday, July 25

The Tennis Committee is offering another clinic for CLYC adult tennis members on Thursday, July 25. Steve Shreiner, former tennis pro at Crystal Downs Country Club, will provide two sessions—one from 1:30—3:00 pm and a second one from 3:00—4:30 pm. As with the previous clinics, the first 50-60 minutes will be focused on drills, and the remaining time will be for supervised play. The fee is $20 per person, which is payable in cash to Steve on the day of the clinic. We have 8 slots available for each session on a first-come, first-served basis.

Children's Clinics

The orange and green tennis balls were flying today as the first children’s tennis clinic of the season got underway! Beginners worked on learning how to grip the tennis racquet as well as stance and some basic strokes and volleys. The Intermediate group worked on some basic drills and strategies for game play. We hope to be able to offer another clinic later in the summer—stay tuned!

Adult Clinic July 11, 2019

We had another successful adult tennis clinic this week. Thirteen tennis members participated in our second clinic offered by Steve Shreiner. We worked on a variety of ground strokes, strategies for net play and serving. We are looking forward to the next clinic on Thursday, July 25!

Tennis Clinic for Kids on Friday, July 12

The Tennis Committee will be offering a tennis clinic for kids on Friday, July 12. There will be two sessions offered that day:

• Beginner Clinic (5-9 years old)

Time: 1-1:30 pm

Cost: $10 per child

Program: grips, stance, basic strokes, volley

• Intermediate Clinic (10-14 years old)

Time: 1:30—2:30 pm

Cost: $15 per child

Program: drills on different strategies and techniques

Please note that these sessions are not geared for advanced players.

We have limited spots available for each session. If you are interested in registering a child, click on the appropriate section’s Sign Up Genius link above and add the name of the child along with an email address for the person who should receive the reminder about the registration. Please bring the appropriate fee for the session, which is payable in cash to Steve at the time of the clinic.

We had 12 tennis members join Steve Shreiner, former tennis pro at the Crystal Downs Country Club, for our inaugural clinic. We worked on a number of different strokes and strategies, and despite the gale force winds that day, we had a great time!
